UZAK DİYARLAR / Distant Lands

Her giden özler sanırdım. Hep geri dönmeyi ister; bir gün mutlaka döner, uzak diyarları sevmez sanırdım
Oralar ayaz ve soğuk, Oralar karanlık, oralar donuk; sırf buralar huzur, uzak diyarlar kusur sanırdım

Çocuktum, artık büyüdüm, hep dikenli patikalarda yürüdüm
Sen gideli, hasret gayri yeter, uzak diyarlar beter sanırdım..

PS: Poet dedicates the poem to his father who had passed away when the poet was a child. Rhymes denote that poet could not accept the truth, since he was so young, and longed for his dad during his lifetime.

Isn't it the hardest thing for all of us to be a great distance off the ones we love and care?
How long a person can tolerate similar situations?
How powerful are we to get over a formidable yearn?
Will it make us stronger or weaker?
Will it harm the conviction or steam up?
Does firmness have any limit?

I know.. not a piece of cake to answer such questions. They just poped up when i read the poem, reminding me the darkside of absence
